UNIVERSITY OF BRISTOL LACROSSE
Training is twice weekly on the Downs, with friendly matches against other universities throughout the year. Bristol’s Performance Squad compete in mixed tournaments throughout the year, train an extra hour after each session, and have professional coaches every other week at the Coombe Dingle Sports Complex or in the sports hall.
New players are also provided with all necessary kit in their first year.
The men’s lacrosse club is the highest performing men’s club at the university, with the 1st team contributing the most BUCS points out of any single team! Its 1st team compete in BUCS Premier South division and missed out on the title by a single goal in 2015-2016! Their 2nd team compete in Western 2 and reached the final of Conference Cup for the three years in a row, narrowly missing out by two goals!
Whether you are looking for a casual, social sport or the opportunity to compete at a top university level, Bristol University Lacrosse club has something to offer. Both Men’s and Mixed welcome all abilities, from complete beginners to seasoned internationals. The club also has a lively social scene with weekly socials and an annual tour. Mixed Mixed lacrosse aims to widen participation in the game by providing a relaxed and fun atmosphere for people to try the sport, or carry on playing at a less serious level, whilst providing competition for those who want it.
The university team has strong links with Bristol Bombers lacrosse club, whose 1st team compete at the highest level in the country in the SEMLA Premiership, with the 2nd team playing in the Western 1 division. Bristol university play with the Bombers weekly, to allow their senior players to develop at the highest level and to give freshers as much practice in the game as possible. Bristol also has a development squad for beginners, with regular matches against other universities, to get new players on the pitch almost immediately.
