University Lacrosse Officer Induction 2023
England Lacrosse’s University Lacrosse Officer Programme has returned for another year, welcoming it’s latest cohort of ULOs on induction training for the 2023/2024 season.
The event, held on Tuesday 5th September at the University of Nottingham, featured talks from Regional Officers Richard Gartside and Nik Roberts, in addition to an introduction to the organisation’s pioneering National Injury Survey from Vaughn Watson.
Over twenty university clubs are signed up to the programme, reaching far and wide across the country, from Hull to Plymouth. This year’s intake of officers were once again guided in coaching, communications, and player recruitment and retention.
ULOs had the opportunity to network between themselves and share advice on committee organisational structures, and how to connect with community clubs, to continue to grow the game among university students and postgraduates.
The session explored various wider initiatives and charity campaigns- from Movember to Stonewall’s Rainbow Laces- as well as the value of community outreach, such as volunteering to coach junior clubs or in local primary schools.
Further introductions are scheduled to take place, with University Lacrosse Officer sponsor RPC once again supporting the programme, and set to meet officers in a forthcoming webinar later in the term.
