University Lacrosse Officers Complete Induction Training
England Lacrosse have trained their 2022/2023 intake of University Lacrosse Officers, with ULOs attending in-person induction training on 11 November, followed by a virtual Microsoft Teams meeting on 8 December.
Nearly thirty students have signed up to the programme this year, from over twenty-five different universities. They were guided on how to become inclusive ambassadors for the sport and drive the growth of lacrosse at university level.
Officers were trained in effective session coaching, communications, and the art of player recruitment and retention. They also had the opportunity to network between themselves, to establish stronger links with neighbouring universities.
Lauren Amos, Lacrosse Officer for University of Reading, said “I found it absolutely fascinating and so helpful. I am super excited to feedback what we discussed to my university and I am really looking forward to working with the other ULOs”.
As well as introducing new students to lacrosse, ULOs were also encouraged to forge connections with local and regional community clubs, to help improve pathways for players to stay involved in the sport postgraduation.
Officers will endeavor to expand their immediate lacrosse communities and integrate students into different playing environments, while helping to facilitate a positive university experience for beginners and high performance players alike.
RPC is once again supporting the University Lacrosse Officer Programme, and England Lacrosse hope to introduce students to the programme’s official sponsor in a forthcoming webinar. Stay tuned on www.unilax.co.uk to hear more!
